Hailing from ‘Dirty Leeds’ (football reference) and formed in 2016, Apollo Junction claim their songs “capture the euphoria of electro-dance music mixing with strong guitar hooks, driving bass and passionate vocals”. ‘Begin’ is their fifth single to be released on streaming platforms and is arguably their strongest offering to date. The track has a strong intro which leads into a slightly repetitive first verse but quickly drops into an extremely hooky chorus that is layered with simple but effective harmonies. From the chorus onwards the song fits all the criteria of a memorable pop song that has ‘earworm’ potential for the future. The chorus really is the pay off here but the middle eight has all the hallmarks of any classic Snow Patrol single, which can only be a good thing.

Apollo Junction are not the type of band that I would naturally come across in my day to day music listening but I’m really glad that we found each other. They are a hard working DIY band who are fiercely independent, amazingly driven and can be seen at various club venues and festivals from May onwards through the summer.

Their debut album is imminent and worth waiting for.
