Blanck Mass

is Benjamin John Power, better known as one half of the UK experimental electronic duo Fuck Buttons. Blanck Mass sprung to life in 2011 with his first studio only S/T album released on Mogwai’s very own ‘Rock Action’ label. In 2012, The track ‘Sundowner’ from Blanck Mass S/T was picked up by Rick Smith (Underworld) and director Danny Boyle for heavy inclusion in London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

Around this time Blanck Mass became not only a studio project but also a live act. This move into the live realm paved the way for Power’s next release, a two track EP released on Oneohtrix Point Nevers ‘Software’ label (Mexican Summer). With a strong will to try new techniques and a deep desire to constantly evolve, this release differed from the first release considerably. Early in 2013 Blanck Mass acted as main support for Sigur Ros on their European tour. Power’s second album ‘Dumb Flesh’ was released in 2015 on Sacred Bones Records to mass critical acclaim.

He has been touring extensively since the release of the album and released a follow up EP ‘The Great Confuso’ in November 2015 which features news tracks plus remixes of the “Dumb Flesh album. In July 2016 Blanck Mass released a new track D7-D5 via the Adult Swim Singles 2016 channel.

Power’s third studio album ‘World Eater’ was released in March 2017 on Sacred Bones Records. This has been his most successful album to date from a critical and profile point of view. He is currently touring the world promoting the ‘World Eater’ album. In the same month, a remix of Moby’s ‘The Light Is Clear In My Eyes (Blanck Mass Inauguration Ball Mix)’ was released.
